The Circus Diaries Goes TransAtlantic

Sunday, 13 March 2016

Later this month I will be relocating from the West Midlands over the border into Wales. To Cardiff, home of NoFit State Circus, and a short hop over the water from Britain’s unofficial circus capital, Bristol. A slightly longer trip overseas is also in the diary though, as I have been offered a grant from Arts Council England and the British Council under the Artists’ International Development Fund, which will take me to the US and Canada to explore and report on circus culture across the pond.

So far the plan covers New York, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Baraboo WI, and Las Vegas, visiting organisations, training centres, and shows to promote the value of circus critique and build new connections.

This post is short, because the planning is long. The trip will take place from late May to mid June, with all reports to appear on The Circus Diaries. At the start of this year, I was awarded Runner Up in the Writers Bureau Writer of the Year competition, for biggest achievement over the last 12 months. Already looks like this year is going to be even bigger and better!
